Qingdao, China – Almatis is pleased to announce the successful completion of the topping-out ceremony for the main structure of its new Qingdao production facility, marking a significant milestone in the project’s development and bringing the plant one step closer to operational readiness.
The ceremony brought together Almatis employees, project teams, and construction partners to celebrate the achievement and recognize the collective efforts that have driven the project forward. During the event, Almatis Chief Operations Officer Alessio Scarsella reflected on the progress made and thanked all stakeholders for their commitment to the project’s success.
The construction of the new facility represents a substantial engineering effort. More than 7,000 cubic meters of concrete and 2,000 metric tons of steel have been utilized throughout the project, with work carried out year-round under demanding weather conditions ranging from –10°C in winter to above 35°C in summer.
From the outset, the project team has remained focused on two key priorities: maintaining the highest standards of safety and achieving critical construction milestones on schedule. In recognition of this commitment, ten frontline construction workers were honored during the ceremony for their outstanding contributions to workplace safety.
The completion of the main building structure marks the transition to the next phase of construction and commissioning activities. Once operational, the new Qingdao facility will strengthen Almatis’ capabilities in the development and manufacturing of high-purity alumina and specialty ceramic materials, supporting growing demand from the semiconductor, electronics, and new energy sectors.
The new plant will further expand Almatis’ production capacity, enhance supply reliability for customers, and reinforce the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainable growth in advanced materials markets.
