Premixed Matrix Product Applications

Almatis aspires to supply the highest quality of alumina-based refractory materials. Our strength lies in offering a complete range of alumina-based raw materials for refractory applications. Almatis' offers Premixed Matrix Concepts to provide three unique formulations for easing refractory design:

  1. Almatis Integrated Matrix (AIM) Concept (need applics. added)
  2. Almatis Infilcast Concept (need applics. added)
  3. Almatis Integrated Binder Concept (need applics. added)

Almatis also continues to separately offer all the single components required for the matrix of high performance refractory castables. These products range from Calcined and Reactive Aluminas to Tabular Alumina and Spinel fine particles. Also offered are Dispersing Aluminas and Calcium Aluminate Cements.

Benefits of the Premixed Matrix Products

  • One-stop-shopping
  • Products ready to use
  • Easy handling

Why Almatis Premixed Matrix Products are Premium

  • Unique product formulations

Single Components

AIM - Almatis Integrated Matrix Products

AIM products are an integrated matrix of aggregate fines, Calcined, Reactive and Dispersing Aluminas for use in Tabular Alumina, Spinel or other high alumina aggregate containing refractory castables.

Benefits of AIM

AFL-Aluminas

Infiltration material for the space between the coarse particles, they make up the second most important component for the Infilcast® System.

Benefits of AFL-Aluminas

  • Particle size distribution ‹ 1 mm
  • Various mineral compositions
  • High refractoriness
  • High corrosion-resistance
  • Optimized infiltration
  • Outstanding refractory properties
  • Minimized water demand

Dispersing Aluminas

Almatis Dispersing Aluminas are widely used in castable manufacturing. The combination of organic dispersants with alumina and other inorganic materials decrease the castable water demand and allows excellent setting control. Currently two product lines are available, one for high-performance silica free castables and one for silica containing castables. Typically, a retarding type and an accelerating type are used together to achieve a target setting time for the castable. The ratio of retarding to accelerating type is varied to change the setting time.

Benefits of Dispersing Aluminas

  • Dispersion of the castable
  • Used to adjust setting time of refractory castable
  • Reduced water demand of refractory castable through optimized dispersion of finest particles
  • At the same time, improved flowability
  • Adjustable setting times (accelerating or retarding) in accordance with placement requirements and temperature conditions

Calcium Aluminate Binder AM92

AM 92 from Almatis is a fully dispersed high alumina binder (~ 90 % Al2O3).
